Are GANs the ‘coolest ideal in deep learning in the last 20 years?’ (Yann LeCun)

Speaking about Ian Goodfellow from Google Brain’s research and creation of generative adversarial networks (GANs), Yann LeCun has said that they are the ‘coolest ideal in deep learning in the last 20 years’.GANs are AI algorithms used in unsupervised machine learning, implemented by a system of two neural networks competing against each other in a ‘zero-sum game’ framework which many AI-centric companies such as Facebook rely heavily on. Where do you think AI would be without them?

At the Deep Learning Summit in San Francisco in January 25 & 26, Ian Goodfellow will present his latest research and work on the topic and also chat about what he’s up to at GoogleBrain. There are currently Super Early Bird tickets on sale, and also loads more info on the three track event here: http://ift.tt/2ttZI7x

Would be great to hear your thoughts!
